PROMINENT MEN INDICTED,

Informations have been laid under the Shipping and Seamen's Act against Captain Allman, nautical adviser to the Government and chief examiner; Captain von Schoen, teacher of navigation ; and Captain Jones, master of the Harbor Board's Bteamer Duchess. Section 32 of the Act makes the offence of procuring or fraudulently altering a certificate a misdemeanor. The cases will be heard on the 24th. Apart from the Court proceedings a departmental inquiry is to be held. ' It is stated that one of the accused threatens serious revelations in certain eventualities.
