THE AUSTRALIANS.
LEASING GUM LANDS FOR
THEMSELVES.
[by tblbgbaph.] Auckland, Thursday.
Information from Kawakawa states that the latest development of the Austrian question shows they are not sleeping. They are now leasing gum lands from private owners entirely for themselves, and are turning off Britishers.
It is understood the Austrian Consul and two Austriaus who were forcibly detained on the AVaihora by tfie Customs authorities have placed their case in the hands of Mr W. J. Napier, barrister, of this city, to endeavor to obtain redress.
