At a moeting of creditors of a bankrupt grocer to-day, a resolution was passed requesting file Assignee to make representations to the Government of the frequency with which transfers of property are made to wives for the purpose of defrauding creditors, and asking for an amendment of the Bankruptcy Act to prevent the practice. In this particular case the Assignee said the wife seemed to have a nice little stock of goods of her own, and he intended to examine her about them. The debtor was unable to give any satisfactory explanation, and one of the creditors said it would give him great pleasure to assist in sending -him to gaol. The Assignee Eaid it was an unsatisfactory bankruptcy, for no books had been kept, and it was decided to have a public examination.
