NEW ZEALAND MUTTON.

[BY TEXEQRA.PH.] Christchubch, Friday. Mr W. Weddel interviewed the Hon. J. M'Kenzie this morning with a view of obtaining the assistance of the New Zealand Gorermnent in connection with the proposed new sorting sheds at the London docks. Knowing that Mr M'Kenzie proposed paying a visit to the Old Country at an early date, Mr Weddel offered to show him round while in London, and generally to place all his experience in the matter of frozen meat at the disposal of the Minister, who would thus be enabled to arrive at his own conclusions. In accepting the offer thus made Mr M'Kenzie expressed his great confidence in the future of New Zealand; and said that no equal area of land in any part of the world could produce as many sheep ov the same high quality of mutton as New Zealand. Mr Weddel remarked that the comparative sacrifice made during Jubilee year I when there had been a glut of New Zealand lambs oh the London market and prices had gone down to an unprecedented extent, had done good by inducing further consumption, and had materially assisted sales in 189 S. As far as he could see the lamb trade of New Zealand was now practically an assured success.
