In another column will be found an account, extracted from the Wellington Independent, of a bull and cow imported by the " Asterope " for- this province. The

cattle have since arrived in Napier. The cow " Clusterberry " has calved a heifer calf, color red roan, which has been named "Lady Stuart" in honor of Captain Stuart o£ the Asterope. As it is the intention of Mr. Nairn, who has purchased Mr. Canning's interest in these cattle, to allow them to remain in Napier for a few days, we would recommend an early inspection of them on the part of the public. Both bull and cow have been greatly admired in Wellington, and are admitted by short horn connoisseurs to be two of the best animals ever imported to the Australian colonies. They certainly reflect the highest credit on those entrusted with their selection and afford fresh proof of the spirited enterprise we have before alluded to as characterising the settlers of this province. The following is the'pedigree of the 7th Duke of York, the sire of " Lady Stuart," which we particularly call attention to, he beiug oue of the highest pedigreed animals named in the herd book : — 7th Duke of Yobk, 17754, White, calved 24th January, 1859.
