TESTS IN HOME NURSING

COLLINS CUP COMPETITION TEAMS TO VISIT HAAVEItA The Collins Cup, which will be competed for at Hawera on Saturday, was donated by the late Colonel the Hon. William Edwards Collins, C.M.L.. M.L.C., ‘who, at the time, was occupying the position of president of the Red Cross organisation in the Dominion- His intention was to stimulate and widen interest in Red Cross nursing. ~ “T ! . The cup was first competed for m 1928, the holders since that date being as follow: 1826, Wellington; 1927, Wellington; 1928, Wellington; 1929. Wellington; 1930, Wellington;. 1931, Wellington; 1932, New Plymouth: 1933, Hawera; 1934, .Hawera. In the home nursing tests, which will he conducted in Ward 2 at the Hawera Hospital on Saturday, teams from the Hawke’s Bay, Manauatu. Wellington and Taranaki districts will compete. Major J. Abel, Dominion chairman of tho Red Cross Society, Airs. I. Andrews, Dominion secretary, and Airs. Abel will arrive in Hawera on Saturday for the tests. Sister Stringer, who has recently taken over the position vacated by Sister Lewis, of Wellington, will be in charge of the Wellington team. The Napier team,, which will he the only team representing Hawke’s Bay, is. the holder of the McLean Shield, competed for by teams in that province. Alany of the visitors will arrive on Friday’s express and will be billeted with Hawera residents. The visitors will be entertained at a social in the Rewa tea rooms on Saturday evening, while on Sunday a visit will be paid to Dawson Falls, the transport being in the hands of the Automobile Association (South Taranaki) and the Hawera Rotary Club.
