Over Million to be Spent on Eng!and=Australia Service CONTINUOUS FLYING PREPARATONS FOR 1937 (United Press Association--By Electric Telegraph Copyright). Received 1.30 p.m. to-day. LONDON, June. 16. The “Sketch” says that over £1,000,000 is being spent in the next two years in equipping the EnglandAustralia air rotue for continuous night and day flying in preparation for the 1937 speeding-up scheme. Work has commenced at Karachi, where an enormous floodlight is being erected on a steel tower. It will light an area of 10,000 square yards equal to daylight. Karachi will also have a beacon visible for 100 miles, .and electric boundary lights will facilitate landing. Similar plans are being prepared for’ Allahabad, Calcutta and Rangoon, and the chain of aerodromes in Siam will be increased.
