Play-Reading Circle

An tvmazingly successful play, of which over 800 performances have been given in London, whs read by members of the reading circle at the Women’s Club last Tuesday night. It was Anthony Armstrong's “Ten Minute Alibi”—a play in three acts. Characters were taken by Mrs A. M. Young (as Betty Findon), Mrs A. J. Corrigan (Philip Sevilla), Mrs J. E. Campbell (Hunter), Miss D. Bryant (Colin Derwent), Miss W. Knight (Sir Miles Standing), Miss McLean (De-tective-Inspector Pernber), Mrs W. W. Thomas (Detective-Sergeant. Brace), Miss Knight (restaurant manager). The stage directions were read by Miss D. Corrigan. The opportunity was taken to bid farewell to Mrs Tennent and Miss Margaret Tennent. Miss Caplen (vicepresident), in the absence of the president (Mrs W. O’Callaghan), expressed regret at their departure and presented each with a posy and also Mrs Tennent with a book of Yates’ poems. Mrs Tennent replied. The appreciative audience included Mrs Tennent, who wore a pretty frock of beige and green patterned georgette ” and Miss Margaret Tennent, whose frock was of jade green panne velvet, and Mesdames W- J.
