Comparison Between Britain and Foreign Powers JAPAN AND FRANCE LEAD LONG RANGE SUBMARINES (United Trees Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright). Received 2.45 p.m. to-day. LONDON, March 5. The annual Blue Book of British anti foreign fleets gives particulars of postwar cruisers, destroyers and submarines built or being built. The totals are as follow: Cruisers. Des. Subs. Britain 32 67 37 United States .. 37 46 26 Japan 32 93 64 France 50 32 SO Italy 19 55 56 Germany is credited with five pocket battleships, six cruisers and sixteen destroyers. The report gives no support to the rumour that Germany is secretly building submarines.
The Japanese submarines are largely 1630 to 1950 tons, indicating that they are intended for long range cruising.
