— Rawhitiroa Election

The second annual meeting of the Itawhitiroa Women’s Institute' was held on Friday. ' The treasurerfs report showed a credit balance of over £l.

The retiring president, Airs H. Belcher, wished the institute every success and thanked Die committee for their co-operation during her term of office. A vote of thanks was accorded Airs Belcher for the interest she had taken in the work.

The following committee were elected : Airs H. Belcher, Mrs I. Gave (president), Alt’s AY. Boottcn, Airs I. Silver and Airs Johnston (vice-presi-dent), Alisses AI. O’Connor, I. Bleakly, G. Willy, Johnston and Airs J. AlcLaughton. A presentation was made to Aliss O. Robinson, who will shortly be married.

The points prizes for the various competitions were won by Airs -AY. Bootten with 29 points, Airs H. Belcher was second with 24 points and Airs Johnston third with 22 points.

During the afternoon two competitions were held, A game of quoits and a. guessing game was won by Aliss Johnston. Afternoon tea; was served by the hostesses, Alisses’ AVilly and I. Bleakfey.

Eltham Address

There was a large attendance of members at the monthly meeting of tile Eltham AYomen’s Institute, held in Eltham last week. A very interesting address was given by Aliss D. Corrigan (Hawera) on the subject of “The League of Nations, Its Importance and Work." The . address was greatly appreciated and the speaker was accorded a hearty vote, of thanks. A demonstration was given by Airs J R. AI. Stewart on the making of “huinpties," which was watched closely. Airs Stewart was thanked for her work. Two competitions were held, one for a bowl of flowers and one for three best asters. Each drew a large number of entries. The first pdiae for the decorated bowl went to Airs G. AV Prentice, Mrs A. Hillmer was second and Airs W. Smith third. lor the asters Aliss Joy Peters was first, Airs AY. Smith second and All’s E-. Clare third. It was announced that the annual meeting .of the Institute would be held next month and members were requested to send iii nominations for the various offices and for the committee, or to hand them in at the next meeting. Alembers must first ask the consent of the nominee! Airs J- R. AI. Stewart will again give a demonstration of Italian quilting at the next meeting and Aliss Corrigan will give, a further address af» tins April meeting on “Travel on the Continent."

The hostesses for the afternoon were Alesdames G. Prentice, G. Fitzgerald, D. AlcKay and AI. Ritter.
