ST GEORGE’S CHURCH SOCIAL.FAREWELL TO MEMBERS. A farewell social was tendered to Mr and Mrs Blackman and family and ! Miss N. Kelly in the St. George’s schoolroom, Patea, on Wednesday evehing. The Rev. W. H. Walton presided. Daring the evening the following programme of items was presented: Pianoforte solo, Miss J. Nelson; song, Miss O. Adams; song, Mrs I. Jones; song ,Mr I. Jones. At the conclusion of the musical numbers Mr Walton apologised for the absence of Mr and Mrs Blackman through indisposition. Mr Walton said they would be greatly missed in the church as they had both been loyal, steadfast and unassuming workers. He called upon Mr Ramsbottom to make a presentation on behalf of the members of the St. George’s Choir. Mr Ramsbottom said that Mr Blackman liad been a loyal and faithful choir member. On behalf of bis fellow members he asked Miss Black-,-man to accept for her father a beautiI fully bound ancient and modern hymn I and tune book as a. token of the esteem in which Mr Blackman was held by the members of the choir. Hedge returned to Patea from Wellington on Tuesday. Miss M. Williams has returned from a holiday at Grey mouth. Mrs. Power and Mrs. A. Pearce .have returned from a holiday visit to New Plymouth. Miss Gwen Masters was the guest of honour at a surprise party held in the Foresters’ Hall on. Monday, onj. the occasion of her birthday. The} evening was .spent in dancing and | games.
