FIRE DEMONSTRATIONS

SHIELD AND CUP TO HAWERA CARTERTON BRIGADE’S SUCCESS CONCLUDING EVENTS. (By Telegraph—Presa Association.} BLENHEIM, March 3. The fire brigade’s demonstration concluded after 8 o’clock on Saturday night, the final runs being made under artificial light, when excellent times were put up. Following are the leading aggregates in the various shield competitions: Championship shield: Carterton 130$, Petone 751, Hawera 642. Gore 59, * Grey mouth 47, Dannevirke 23, Whangarei 222, Otorohanga 19, Taumarunui 16*, Rotorua 14, Stratford 13, Te Kuiti 121, Waipukurau 12$, Cobden 12, Hastings 10, Hokitika 10. Manual shield: Hawera 28$, Petone 23. Carterton 15, Rotorua 'l4, WJiaiigarei 13*, Otorohanga 11, Hastings 10. Stratford gained 6 points and Taumarunui 4. High pressure shield. Carterton 1245, Petone 735, Gore 59, Hawera 542, Grey mouth 47, Dannevirke 23, Taumarunui 16$, , Otorohanga 16 Whangarei 132, Waipukurau 12$, Cobden 12, Hokitika 10. Stratford gained 7 points.
