BUILDERS’ CONFERENCE
MARKED TRADE IMPROVEMENT
MORE ENCOURAGING PROSPECTS
(By Telegraph— Frew Association.) ROTORUA, Feb. 20.
The thirty-fifth annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Builders and Contractors opened to-day. Delegates are attending from all parts of the Dominion.
In the course cj his presidential address, Mr Walter Ellis, Dunedin, said a marked improvement had taken place in the building trade during the past year, due partly to the Government subsidy scheme and partly to the general process of recovery. Prospects were much more encouragiag but it would he unwise to be over-optimis tic. A reduction in taxation had to precede any real recovery.
