METHODIST BIBLE CLASSES

TARANAKI’S EXECUTIVE EASTER CAMP ARRANGEMENTS A meeting of the Taranaki Methodist Young Men's Bible Class Executive "was held at the Hawera parsonage on Monday last. Air W. T. Johnson presided and there was a good attendance. Advice was received officially that the Hawera. Class had been entrusted with the editing of the humorous section in the B.C. monthly. “The Link.”

Correspondence in connection with the Easter Camp at New Plymouth was dealt with and it was decided to write to the New Plymouth class and advise that it was not in accordance with the Dominion Executive policy to use racecourses as camp sites and to ask the class, if possible, to procure an alternative site for the camp. A very extensive report was prosented by Mr D. Wills, who represented Taranaki at the recent New Zealand Methodist "Bible Class conference at Wellington. He stresseU the great need for leadership training, a phase on which the present travelling secretary was concentrating. The history of the Bible Class movement was traced, showing that at present the trend was for decentralisation of control, the ultimate aim being the dividing of New Zealand into five districts each with a youth director, whose activities would embrace Sunday Schools, Bible Classes and church work.

Rules and regulation changes in New Zealand Executive were dealt with and it was announced that the travelling secretary would be in the Tara-naki-Wanganui district for live weeks about next November.

Wiiilo at Wellington, Mr Wills won the elocutionary cup competition, open to all, on the subject, “Any Phase of the Bible Class Movement,’’ lie taking the physical aspect.
