The first reports of the Minister of Transport order, extending to all built, up areas in the United Kingdom, for, the establishment of a silent zone for motor horns between 11.30 p.m. and 7 a.m., show that motorists responded loyally to the appeal. The experiment was greeted with a chorus of approval, a general slowing down of traffic being reported. ~ . FURTHER MEASURE OF CAUTION As a further measure to minimise the risk of street accidents, amber globes mounted on black and 'white standards, are to be erected in London streets, to mark uncontrolled and police controlled pedestrian crossings.
