LONDON WOOL SALES
GOOD GENERAL COMPETITION. GERMAN BUYERS ABSENT. (United Press Aiscciati :n—By Electric Telegraph Copyright, l. Received 11 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Sept. 18. At the wool sales, 11,616 bales were offered, including 2520 from New Zealand. About 5165 were sold. There was a fair selection and a large attendance, but the Germans were absent. There was good general competition and the bulk was sold. Compared with the July closing, greasy merinos were 7£ to 10 per cent, lower, scoureds 10 to 15 per cent, and crossbreds slipes 5 to 10 per cent, lower. New Zealand slipe half-bred lambs, Belfast, top 13d, average 12 l-Bd.
VICTORIAN PRICES' DISHEARTENING. MELBOURNE, Sept. 19. Tfye wool selling season for Victoria has- begun, 5500 bales being offered, but the prices were disheartening, the market being 25 per cent.' lower than at the first sales last year. Values suffered no decline on the rates realised at Sydney. '
