New Speed Boat Record

Rate of 111 Miles an Hour

Subject to official checkings, a new, speed record for single-engined motor, boats was set up by Miss Britain Third, driven by Scott Paine in winning the Prince of Piemont’s trophy over a sea course of one mile at Venice, at 177.185 kilometres an hour. This was about 111 miles an hour. Sir Henry Seagrave’s 1929 record was 146.910 kilometres an hour.
