II AW ERA CONCERT PARTY

A very successful concert, arranged by Afr and Mrs Antoni Bonetti, of Ila wera, was lield in the Auroa Hall last Friday evening, when there was a good attendance. Outstanding artists assisting in the programme were Mr and Mrs R. S. Allwright and Mr ana Mrs M. R. Jones, also of Hawera, whose concluding item (a liaka) received vociferous applause from the audience. The sum of £4 18s 3d was taken at the doors.

The programme was as follows: Orchestral items, [National Anthem and “The Runaway,” the Auroa .School Drum ail’d Fife Band; pianoforte duet, Misses Jean Hooper and Jessica Bailey; song, Miss Joy Winks; steel guitar trio, Mr . and Mrs Bonetti, Misses Silby and Parry and Mr A. Sargeson; pianoforte solo, Miss Gwen Caldwell; instrumental trio and song 3, Mr S. Horsburgh, accompanied by Mr and Mrs Bonetti and Miss Cave; song, Master Tui Jones; pianoforte duet, Miss Mavis Sheerin' and Mrs Bonetti; vocal duet, “The Singing Lesson.” Mr and Mrs Allwright; Jong, “The Dear Little ‘Girl,” Mrs

Allwright; orchestra, Hawaiian orchestra; pianoforte duet, Misses Joyce Durham and Barbara Campbell; songs, Mrs Allwright, “Tip Toes” and “Dream Again”; orchestral items, the Silby Faimly; song, Mr M. R. Jones, “Friend o’ Mine”; pianoforte solo, competition test selection, Miss Joyce Durham; song, Mr Allwright, ‘The Advice of a Lady”; violin duet, “When My Golden Dreams Come True,” Mr Bonetti and Mr A. Sargeson; mandolin duet,, Mr Bonetti and Mr Jim Silby; haka, Mr and Mrs Allwright and Mr and Mrs M. R. Jones. Tlie accompanistes were Mrs Bonetti, Mrs Allwright and Misses Silby, Walters and Spooner. At the conclusion of the concert programme Mr J. C. Duff, chairman of the Auroa School Committee, thanked Mr and Mrs Bonetti for thojr kindly assistance in coming forward and giving half the proceeds to the Auroa School Drum and Fife Band.

A vote of appreciation was carried by acclamation. Mr Bonetti returned thanks to the audience for its help and appreciation. Among those present -was FlyingOllicer W. E. Hooper, who is visiting his relatives at Auroa.
