OVER £23 STOLEN
THEFTS' AT MEGNP& HOSTEL NEARBY HOTEL ALSU VISITED During the early hours of Thursday morning a. visit was paid by some unauthorised person to the W-hare Koa men’s hostel in Princes Street, Ha.wera, anil apparently made ft leisurely tour of the axioms of the management arid of several of the boarders. No one was disturbed by .the intruder, hut next morning consternation was caused in the household when it was discovered t-hat considerable sums of money had been- stolen. ,t From the room of one of the proprietresses (Mrs Laiing) £lO in_ notes and silver was removed. Upstairs Mr EL Fyson lost the sum of £ll and Mr U. Nicholas lost a wallet and- £2 IQs in cash. . - ,
The thief had no difficulty in entering the premises, which are 'usually, left open, for the convenience of boarders, and - apparently he made his escape without attracting attention. it was discovered later in the day that the Dominion Hotel, also in Princes Street, had been entered during the previous night, a member of the domestic staff reporting the- Ibssi of a small sum of money. . A similar incident occurred at the Royal Hotel in High Street during the early hours of Sunday morning last all intruder . making a t-our of the rooms and decamping with the sum of £3 5s belonging to a, member of the household.
