The Labour Party was victorious in the City Council elections, the state of the parties being: Labour 14, National Citizens 5, Independent 1. In the old council Labour held seven seats. This is the first time in the history of greater Brisbane that Labour lias gained control of the council. Mr A. Jones, the Minister of Mines, defeated the present Lord Mayor, Mr J. Green, for that office.
