SCHOOL CHAIRMAN’S REPORT,
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The report of the chairman of the Whakamara School Committee (iur. a. Dobson) to be presented to tlie annum meeting of Jiouselmlders states that the year opened with a credit balance of ij'A Os ad and the balance in liana at the end of the financial year was n,'l 14s. During the year considerable work had been done to the school grounds under the No. 5 unemployment relief 'scheme and the .surroundings were kept in tip-top order. Officers of the Education Board who visitea the school were very favourably impressed by the general, appearance. Working bees bad put down a second tennis court. This court, although a clay one, had mad© possible much additional play. No very extensive improvements to the school buildings had been made owing to the fact that the buildings are very old. . V cry gratifying reports of the school were given by the inspectors and the thanks of the committee were extended to the teacher, Mr. CL J. Williams, foi bis eo-operation in every way. During the past year several concerts were held, some, of the proceeds going towards the boys and girls’ club. The children were to, be congratulated on the success they' had gained in different kinds of sport.
