INTENTION TO RETIRE
PREMIER OF TASMANIA. (UmtPd Press, Association —By Electric Telegrapr Copyr'2Dt. ■ HOBART, March 9. The Premier, Mr J, C. MoPhee, has ann otinced that he intends to retire from the Premiership on account of •ill-health. It is expected that Sn Walter Lee will succeed him. Mr McPhee has been, intimately connected with Tasmanian politics for many years. He has been a member of the Hou-se of Assembly since 1919, and was Chief Secretary and Minister for Railways, 1922-23. He- has been Premier, Treasurer and Minister control lino- Hydro-Electric Department since 1928. ‘Sir Walter Lee has twice previouslv been Prime Minister, from 1916 to 1922, and for a short period in 1923.
