GAOL FOR FALSE PRETENCE
BUYER. OF GRAMOPHONE. FORGED NAME AND REFERENCE 1 . (By Telegraph—Pres? Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. A term of two months’ imprisonment was imposed by the magistrate, Mr. E. Page, on Errol Linden Dawson, aged 30, on a charge of obtaining a gramophone by false pretences. It was stated' that Dawson obtained a machine from the Farmers’ Trading Company on the instalment system, giving a false name and a forged reference. He sold the machine and his only payment was the original one, 2s 6d.
