LOST COAL FREIGHTER
FATE OF CHRISTINA FRASER. MARINE INQUIRY OPENED. (United. Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) SYDNEY, Aug. 1. At the Marine Court inquiry into the loss of the coai freighter Christina Fraser in heavy weather on the night of Juno 23 it was revealed that tho meteorological reports described tho weather in the vicinity of Gabo, where the vessel is believed to have foundered, as quite moderate. Yet .according to the master of the Ivoranui it was very violent when last lie saw the Christina Fraser in that locality. The Seamen’s Union called two former seamen employed by the Christina Eraser. Both testified that she was a cranky .ship, and quite unsuitable for the coal trade between Newcastle ana Melbourne. They were always “windy and finally left her. The inquiry was adjourned.
