NAPIER HARBOUR TRAGEDY
COURT DELIVERS VERDICT. HELMSMAN’S ACTION BLAMED. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) NAPIER, Feb. 1. The Marine Court gave its decision to-day as to the cause of the collision at the entrance to the Inner Harbour at Napier on December 28, when ten watersdiers lost their lives. The court held that the accident was due directly to the action of Mentzer, helmsman of the launch Doris, in attempting to cross the bow of the Tu Atu. . . . , The verdict of the inquest, which was held simultaneously with the marine inquiry, was that the fatalities were due to drowning as the result of a collision.
