OHAU CROSSING SMASH
RECOVERY OF INJURED FAVOURABLE PROGRESS (B 7 Telegraph—Press Association.; LEVIN, Jan. 26. The condition of the victims of the level-crossing smash at Ohau yesterday showed an improvement this morning. Both are cut of danger. Mrs Wallace Death is recovering from the shock. Her mother, Mrs O’Rourke, is the most seriously injured, her ankle having been broken. The four children, three Deaths, and a daughter of Mrs Walker, of Plimmerton, are .suffering from cuts and bruises. All had a. miraculous escape from death. Mrs Death, who was driving, saw the train when, approaching the crossing at Ohau. She applied .the brakes, hut they failed to act and the train struck the car with a heavy impact. One side of the car was crushed in and the vehicle was capsized. All the .sufferers were taken to the Otaki Hospital.
