BAND CONTEST
COMMITTEE MEETS AT- ELTIIAM. The Eltham Band Contest Committee has received a reply from the Broadcasting Board stating that owing to the difficulty of obtaining a suitable laud line it would not be possible to broadcast the contest from IYA. The committee decided to ask 2YB to conduct the broadcast. The Taranaki association advised that a meeting of delegates would be held at Stratford and Mr J. D. McKay was appointed to attend as representing the contest committee. The secretary .reported that the Borough Council had granted the use of Taiinia ta Park for the contest. ‘Should the weather be unfavourable arrangements were being made for the committee to have the first call on the town hall.
It was decided to allocate the gold medal donated by Air (‘McKay to the 'drum-major of the band (brass or pipe) scoring most pouts in the quickstep, military' points only' to bo counted, and points for cleanliness of instruments to be excluded.
• ■Officials appointed were: « Contest supervisor, Mr J. Kcilar; timekeepers, Messrs A. G. Whiting (official) and IT. L. Kasper; clerk of the course, Air AV. Thornhill; gates supervisor, Air J. A. Walsh. .
It was decided to arrange for the parade of bands -to march from the C.E.M.S. Club to the park on the morning of the contest.
