FRANCE TO BUILD CRUISER
NEW CAPITAL SHIP FIRST FOR TWENTY YEARS (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph r-ojavriaht.J JLONDON, Nov. 1(5. The French Government has. ended the battleship holiday by giving orders to lay down the keel of the battle cruiser Dunquerque, says the nS'a 1 correspondent of the “Daily Telegaph.” . , . This will be the first capital ship to be built for the French navy for nearly 20 years. It will have, a displacement hf 26,500 tons and will carry eight 13inch guns, so the Dunquerque will be the most powerful battleship oyer built, except the Hood. Her guns will have a. range of 23 miles. Later it is proposed to build two more ships of the same type. Italy also is experimenting with a ■battle cruiser with eight 15-inch guns. The building pf the Dunquerque prejudices the British loan to limit capital ships ,t>Q 22,000 tons.
