POSSIBLE PRIVATE CONTROL. RAILWAY ON EAST COAST. (Bv 7riegraph—Press Association.) TAURANGA, Sept. 5. Regarding the suggested closing of the East Coast railway, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, who presided a.t a meeting addressed by Mr W. J. Poison, Dominion president of the Farmers’ Union, said that if the Railway Board decided to dose the rai'hvay he would use efforts to see it was disposed of to an organisation that would run the railway in the of residents and land development.
