An expedition led by Herr Wilhelm Meikl with seven Bavarian moun;tain.ee)rsf and two members of the American Mountaineering Club, including Miss Elizabeth Ivnowiton, has left the base at Srinagar, Kashmir, iu an attempt to scale Nanga Parbat, 26,692 feet, the highest peak of the. western Himalayas and the fourth highest in the world.
Nanga Parbat i;s the highest mountain in the British Empire. It is 2100 feet higher than Kamal. which is the highest mountain ever climbed by man.
