COST OF LIVING ACT
BAKERS WANT REPEAL. ‘ PURELY A WAR MEASURE.” (By Telegraph—Pleas Association J PALMERSTON N., Feb. 19. The Master Bakers’ Conference passed a resolution: “That delegates urge upon the Government the desirability of immediately repealing the Commercial Trust Act and the Cost of Living Act supplementary thereto. In support of this request delegates respectfully point out that the Cost of Living Act was acknowledged as being a purely war measure, apart from which fact it was maintained that the Government has ample powers to deal with matters as provided for under botli Acts, the repeal of which is now urged.” It was decided to extend an invitation for the federal conference of Australia and New Zealand to be held in the Dominion in 1935.
