SERIOUS OFFENCE ADMITTED
MEDICAL PRACTITIONER CHARGED. DETAINED FOR OBSERVATION. (By Telegrapn—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 5. John Sproull Currie. 34 years of age, a suburban medical practitioner, pleaded guilty in the Police Court to six charges ’of wilful, obscene exposure. He was remanded in custody for a week, during which he is to he examined bv a Government alienist. The police said the offences were committed in the presence of girls aged from nine to 14 years whom accused invited to ride in his car. In three different suburbs complaints had been received; also from other suburbs, and eventually the police, with the assistance of civilians, found that accused was the offender. Counsel said that as accused s friends suspected his case was pathological he would, if granted bail, immediately go to a. mental hospital find stay there pending sentence. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, refused bail.
