ELTHAM COUNTY DISCUSSION. NEW WORK NOT FAVOURED. A suggestion, made in a circular from the Awatere County Council and received hy* the Eltham County meeting on oaturday, that no new worn be undertaken oil main highways, was accorded 1 strong support by the meeting. Ci-. Carter said it was a good thing not to expend money on new works, but to look after what has been done. The circular also stressed the need of Highways funds being given to local bodies and of economy by Government departments. “The Government,” said! the chairman (Cr. A. L.
