A motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mr Thos. Geary at yesterday’s meeting of the South. Taranaki Farmers’ Union executive and members stood in silence out of respect to his memory. The death is announced from Paris of Vice-Admiral Gauchet, who commanded a squadron at the Dardanelles which participated in the landing in April, 1915. Mr. Reimer, who was the father of Mrs. C. Davies, Otakeho. had reached the age of 71 years and resided many years at New Lynn, Auckland. Much sympathy will be felt with his relations in their sorrow. The funeral will leave St. Mary’s Church, Hawera, to-morrow at 1 p.ni. At the meeting of the Hawera Main School Committee last evening a motion of sympathy wat passed to Mr H. W. Insull, secretary of the Taranaki Education Board, in the loss of his only daughter at Hawke’s Bay.
