In the Sheffield Shield match against South Australia to-day, New South Wales in the first innings made 455 for three wickets (Bradman 258, Jackson 166, Ivippax not out 20). There was a great duel between the world’s best batsman and the world’s best googly bowler. Grimmett. The crowd was treated to a rare exhibition of slogging by Bradman, who punished Grimmett as never before. Jackson batted in a masterly fashion, making many brilliant strokes, and was always confident. VICTORIA v. QUEENSLAND. RYDER RETURNS TO FORM. MELBOURNE, Dec. IS. Victoria commenced a Sheffield Shield match against Queensland today and in the first innings made 303 for five wickets (Ryder 114, Rigg 124).
