Athletes from Ha went, Stratford and Eltliam contested honours in track and field, events on the Hawera showgrounds last evening when the seventh of tlx© season’s series of combined club meetings was held. The meeting was the' third of the series to he conducted under the auspices of the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club, officials of which gave efficient attention u tliei administrative work. 'file date of the Taranaki Amateur Atheltic Club’s annual championship meeting has been finally fixed as Saturday. January 17. and will this season be conducted for the first time at Eltliam. The provincial Oh amnion ships, is distinct from the centre championships. have proved a very popular institution of recent years. Competition is open to all clubs in tire province and indications are that it will prove particularly keen this season.
