FIRE ON DORNIER DO=X
THE LEFT WING DESTROYED. WILL STILL "FLY ATLANTIC. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) LONDON, Nov. 29. A message from Lisbon states that an outbreak of fire on the Dornier Do-X destroyed the left wing. The fire was due to a spark from the auxiliary battery. The crew, aided by local firemen and Portuguese firemen, saved the ’plane from total destruction. Repairs to the wing will take several weeks, but the mishap is not expected to prevent the machine from starting on the Atlantic flight in January.
