YOUNG COUPLE TO MARRY
Sidney Co-omber, aged 19, a motor mechanic, lately obtained the consent of the North London magistrate to marry a girl, aged 18. Coomber had summoned his parents, who had withheld their consent to the marriage, and said he was in regular work, earning £2 a week, and the girl was earning £l. Air Coomber said he did not consider his son was earning sufficient to supnort a wife. Mrs Coomber supported bis view, adding: “It will mean eovertv for him.”
The girl’s mother said she was pre- ' vie cl to furnish a room for the young neoplo. and the magistrate remarked: “T canont possibly refuse my ctmsent. ft would not be right.”
