COAL CARBONISATION
ENGINEER’S HEAVY CLAIM. (By Telegraph—Special to “The Star.") WELLINGTON, Oct. 27. Compensation from Parliament to cover loss incurred in visiting New Zealand in respect of low-temperature carbonisation was claimed hy L. C. Harvey, consulting engineer, of London, who assessed his losses through the failure of various negotiations at £2OOO, Harvey also petitioned praying that a contract be authorised for smokeless, briquetted fuel for railway purposes at luvercai'gill and that relief in respect of the costs incurred in his endeavour t-Q> incorporate a carbonising v 4 company on the Ohai Coalfields be granted to him. The Goldfields and Mines Committee reported to the House on Saturday recommending the petitions to the Government for inquiry. The report, was adopted.
