NIAGARA’S BUTTER
DUMPING DUTY IMPOSED
INVOICE PRICE IN QUESTION BELOW MARKET RATE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.; Received. 9.16 a.m. to-day. VANCOUVER, Oct. 23. A dumping duty of 40 cents on each 56-pound box lias been imposed on the 38,000 boxes of Neiv Zealand butter which arrived hero on October 1.1 in addition t-o the regular duty of one cent a pound, since raised to eight 1 cents per pound. This Avas imposed Avhen the invoices revealed that the price Avas four-fifths of a cent per pound loAA’er than the current market rate in Noav Zealand at the time of shipment. In future the Canadian Trade Commissioner in Noav Zealand will cable butter prices daily, so that the duty may he assessed as on the day of shipment- to avoid fluctuations during transit.
