DRASTIC SALARY CUTS
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SERVICE EFFORT TO BALANCE BUDGET (United Press Association —By ElecTiu Telegraph Copyright). Received. 11.30 nun. to-day. ADELAIDE, Aug. 26. Drastic cuts in the civil service salaries are proposed by flic State Government in an effort to balance the budget. From £3OO to £BOO a year a graduated scale will apply and beyond that amount the rate will be drastic. A salary of £IOOO would be reduced nearly 25 per cent. The rate of wages tax is not yet decided, but it is stated as* likely to be a shilling in the pound.
