The Gloucester match finished sensationally, the result being a draw, each side having registered 274 in their respective two strikes. When the game was resumed m the presence of 8000 the County was 62 ahead with seven wickets in hand. The side then collapsed and all were out before lunch for a. total of 202 runs, leaving tlie Australians 118 to get to win. Homibrook was again the most successful bowler and his figures for the match are nine wickets for 69 runs. The Australians commenced the secoiid innings well, McCabe and Jackson carrying the total to 59 before the former was bowled. Four wickets then fell with the addition of 14 runs. Pons-f-ord and Ivippax made their first ducks of the tour and the crowd roared with excitemeut when Parker scattered Bradman’s stumps. Thirty-seven were now needed; with four wickets intact. Australia seemed certain to lose when a’Beckett was caught in the slips. The score was now seven for 86. Hurwood survived two appeals for leg before and with the total at 96 Lyon dropped Grimmett. Hurwood was again given not out to a further leg before appeal. The pair added a Viil uable 20 and then Hurwood was out leg before. Eight wickets were now down for 108, but three were still wanted when Grimmett was caught after a plucky stand of an hour.

Hornibrook survived a stumping appeal and brought the -sides level amidst tremendous excitement. Goddard appealed for leg before against the same batsman and he was given out. Thus ended the most dramatic match of the tour. It was a pitiful display on the Australians’ part and further demonstrated the foolishness of changing the hatting order. Scores: GLOUCESTER.
