NATIONAL ELECTRIC SYSTEM
TOD BIG FOR SECTIONAL CONTROL. BOARD CHAIRMAN’S VIEWS. o.) {cegiayu i # retib AssociaUou., AUCKLAND, June 25. “The time lias arrived for the establishment of a, commission for control of the national electric system, and disestablishment of political control,” declared Mr. Dean, chairman of the Erankton Power Board at Pukelcolie, “The industry has become too large for -sectional control by the Public Works Department, and in any case electrical generation and control, should not be the function of that department. A deplorable example of political control lias j-ust been reported ; I. refer to the istoppng and- starting of work upon the exploration tunnels at Arapuni by outside politicians. How far political intrigue has been penetrating the electrical policy of the country during the last few years is difficult to estimate.”
The'board decided to urge that the electrical branch of the Public Works Department -be placed under electric supply commissioners.
