RIVERLEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) EUCHRE PARTY. The weekly euchre party was held on Tuesday, when the prizes were won by Miss Symes and Mr J. Hey. The ping-pong prize was again won by Mr R. McLeod in spite of a handicap of four. SCHOOL FOOTBALL. On Friday last the Matapu School football team played Riverlea on the latter’s ground, and after a very keenly .contested game Avon by three points, a goal from a mark, to nil. The visitors were mostly rather heavier than the local boys, avlio, however, made th-e pace a ‘ ‘cracker* 5 and hustled the opposing forwards in the loose. In spite of the fact that Matapu were playing eight men in the scrum the Riverlea pack held them ivell and obtained possession quite as often as their opponents. D. Simpson, the captain of the Matapu team, received a nasty kick on the mouth in a tight scrimmage, resulting in the loss of a couple of teeth. Mr C. Keliely refereed the game.
