MATAPU FLOWER SHOW
OPENED THIS AFTERNOON. A REMARKABLE DISPLAY. There was a good attendance of people from all over the district present at the opening of the fourth annual flower show at Matapu, which was officially performed by Mr C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., this afternoon. The display of blooms of many kinds, of decorative work and pot plants, of garden and farm produce and of home industries was exceptionlly good, and gave evidence of the favourable season during the latter part and. the industry of the exhibitors. The display, combined with the excellent management of the president and committee under the general direction of the lion, secretary (Mr B. Cole), made the show one of the best yet held at. Matapu. The officials were: President, Mr W. A. Guy; committee. Mesdames W. A. Guy, A. Thomas, AY. T. Seed, 11. Sharpe, C. AYillis, AY. E. Carter and FT. Colder, Misses M. Noble, M. Guy, F. Seed. R. Huekstep and B- Seed, Messrs IT. Shame, AY. T. Seed, H. Hoskin, T. Guy,' AY. E. Carter and L. Iloskin; treasurer, Air II Sharpe. The side-shows', with sweets stall and afternoon tea, and the chain and sheen guessing formed a series of attractions which kept everyone interested throughout the afternoon. The show will be open this evening until half-past eight.' A dance will follow.
