MINE WORKER KILLED
BELIEVED STRUCK BY WINCH HANDLE.

News has been received that a man named Arthur Nightingale, of Hikurnngi, employed at the Avoea coal mine, 13 miles out, was killed, presumably through being struck on the back of the head with the handle of a winch used in connection with the loading of lorries at the pit head. No one saw the accident and no further particulars are available
