“BUY NEW ZEALAND GOODS”
NEW YEAR SLOGAN
SATISFACTION TO MANUFACTURERS. By Teleg.*apii—Press Association. , WELLINGTON, Dec. 6. “The slogan, ‘Buy New Zealandmade Goods,’ selected by the Prime Minister as his New Year message, has given great satisfaction to the manufacturers of New Zealand,” declared the president of the New . Zealand Manufacturers’ Association (Mr. F. Campbell) to a reporter to-day. “The acknowledgment of the main object of .New Zealand manufacturers by the Lead of the Government of the day, and his statement that secondary industries must be assisted, is very pleasing. They will await with interest the deeds that should follow the words- “ New Zealand manufacturers feel that the setting-up of a development of industries hoard as outlined by them some months ago. to the then Minister of Industries and Commerce, (the Hon. J. G. Cobbo) would be the best method of developing on sound and economic lines our manufacturing, industries. The question is too big to be left to the up.s and downs of party politics, and the possibility of mistakes in either too rapid or too slow development are too great to run any risks. A board as suggested would find the industries which could he developed with advantage to New Zealand and would suggest the best methods of assisting the industry. There is still no doubt in the mind of the New Zealand manufacturer that with a careful and well-informed system of development of the manufacturing industries unemployment in New Zealand could be reduced to a minimum. Their development can be greatly assisted by the people of the Dominion adopting for this year the Prime Minister’s Slogan, ‘Buy New Zealand-made Gbods.’ ”
