DIRECTOR OF TOWN PLANNING
TO. VISIT HAWERA. Mr- .J. L. Mawson, director of' town planning in New Zealand, will arrive in Hawera on Thursday next and will address various South Taranaki local Ondy representatives. In a letter to the Hawera Borough Council Mr. Mawson stated that a series of public inquiries would be held in the various centres during February and Marcli. As that would leave little time for local authorities to arrive at conclusions with regard to the regions in which they c onsidered the area under their jurisdiction was situated, the-di-rector was of the opinion that it would meet with the approval of the. majority of local authorities if he were to meet them to explain the provisions of the Act, especially with regard to the setting up of regional committees. The Borough Council subsequently took the necessary steps to arrange for Mr. Mawson to give the addresses.
