PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr and Mrs C. J. Rowe returned to Hawera on Tuesday night after spending a holiday of six weeks in Australia. The Hon. W. li. Triggs and Mrs Triggs arrived to-day at Wellington from London by the Ruahinc after an extended tour, which included South Africa. He took part in the interparliamentary conference in Berlin. The funeral of Mrs J. J. Patterson, which took place at the Manaia cemetery on Sunday, .wa.s very largely attended by residents of the district, there being over 50 cars in the pxoces sion. The 'burial service was read by the Revs. B. Dudley and W. W. Avery, and a few remarks were made at the graveside by Mrs Williams (Sister Nellie). The pallbearers were Messrs A. G. Bennett. T. A. Bridge, W. R. Auton, H. E. Lloyd, O. T. Parry, and W. Parkinson. Returning to duty after his annual leave of absence, Sergeant J. Henry, officer in charge of .the Hawera police district, reached Hawera last evening. He resumes duty to-day. During his absence Sergeant Henry has been relieved at Hawera by Sergeant T. I. McGregor, who returns to New Plymouth to-day. The chairman (Mr H. G. Carman), secretary (Mr W. J. Tristram') and engineer (Mr Goldsmith) of the Taranaki Power Board are at present in Wellington in connection with the business of the board.
