EX ROUT IYE A 1 FETING. INSURANCE .MATTERS. At last meeting of the executive a member had stated a ease where an insurance company had refused to- pay compensation for an accident to a boy of fourteen working for an employer.

Air Cameron had made fnit-her inquiries- and obtained a- legal opinion, which Hated that there was no restriction to the .age of workers who- could be covered by insurance. Thy solicitor stated, however, that in the case of relatives, say a son. working for a farmer, they would not be covered unless; specially mentioned in the policy. H.& added, however, that he wou/id like further particulars and members' agreed that the question should l receive more attention.

OPUNAKE BRANCH OF WOMEN’S DIVISION.

j The usual monthly meeting of the i Opunake branch of the N.Z.F.U. woJ men’s !ivision, took place- at Opunake jon Monday, Mrs \V. L. F. Chambers presiding. Others present were-: Alcsdames A. Lusk, J. Young, F. Young, A. W. Wan, E. G. Baylis, —. Pentelow E. G. Holmes, Aliss A. O’Sullivan, and tlio secretary, Airs J. F. Slieplierd. Mrs Chambers reported on the fourth annual conference held at Wellington recently, which was tlie largest vet; held. Airs Pentelow and Miss A. 0. Sullivan were enrolled as me2nbers. The nursing classes were continued, the parts taken being poultices and fomentations.

Arrangements were made to- hold luncheon marts at the Farmers' Kaleyards on the 9th and 2.3 rd in-st. The next' meeting of the branch is on October 7th. Nursing class at 1.30 jj.ii., women’s division meeting at 2.30 p.m. MONTHLY MEETING OF WOMEN'S DIVISION.

Afany matters of interest were dealt with at the ordinary meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, held yesterday at Mrs Walter Symo’.s .residence, presided over by Mrs iW. E. Carter. There were also present- Afesdames Yickridge, D. M. Cameron, Seed, Swinburn, Muir, W. S.vme. and Aliss Johnstone (lion, secretarl >. Apologie-s were received from' Mrs E. Meuli. Airs- Washer, Ally, Iff. J. Betts, Mrs G. Betts, and Mi ss o’■Sullivan, Afesdames Carter (country) and W. S.vme (town) were deputed, as advisory memliers, to report on applications for housekeepers in the district and to generally organise the housekeeper scheme. Tlie Dominion executive advised that this scheme needed decentralising, and expressed the hope that provincial exe eutives would soon bo formed and branches undertake their own schemes Members were requested to forward to the secretary recipes and hints for household management for inclusion in the proposed Dominion cooking book. It was decided that the annual garden party be held on Labour Day, Mr H. Betts having again kindly offered the use of lii;s grounds at Hollybank, Okaiawa.

A rally for new members is to he held on a given date and a prize given for tlio largest enrolment made bv any branch'. A resolution was carried that interest oil a sum of £SOO hold on fixed deposit should be used to defray expenses connected with the office of the Dominion president. Af, the end of the meeting afternoon tea. was served by Mrs »Syme and a vote of thanks was. passed to her for her hospitality.
